Elderly Drivers and the Aging of America

Jing Feng
Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, North Carolina State University

America’s population is aging. Soon Americans 65 and older will comprise nearly a quarter of the entire population. How will this aging, with all of the changes in vision and cognition that it represents, affect traffic safety in the United States? In this session, we will discuss older driver behaviors and attitudes and how our communities can provide traffic safety for all road users.
